What significance does PBM have for the future of medicine? What can it do for the various specialist areas?

Dr. Terrance L. Baker (BSc, Mac, MD, FAEEP, President and CEO of Sollay, Inc.) is the President of the North American Association of Laser Therapy (NAALT), the Medical Director of the Emergency Department of Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore and a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the American Association of Physician Specialties and his President Elect (2018).

Dr. Andrei Barasch (DMD, MDSc, Associate Professor, Div. of Oncology, Weill Cornell Medical College, NY) is a specialist in oral oncology. He is particularly interested in the effects of PBM on skin and mucous membrane damage caused by cancer therapies. He conducts basic and clinical studies on the effects of photobiomodulation on various cancer models, including radiotherapy-induced mucositis, graft vs. host disease, and solid tumors.

peer interview
Prof. Rene-Jean Bensadoun
PBM in side effects of cancer therapies

Prof. Rene-Jean Bensadoun is Professor of Radiation Oncology and Chairman of the Centre for Haute Energy in Nice, France. He specializes in radiation oncology, cancer of the head and neck, supportive procedures in cancer, photobiomodulation, new techniques in radiation oncology and the toxicity of cancer treatments. He is Vice President of WALT, former Scientific Secretary of WALT, Deputy General of SFCCF and a member of numerous professional societies including APPAC, EMLA, LED Academy.

peer interview
Dr. Roberta Therese Chow
The Importance of Photobiomodulation for future Pain Therapy

Dr. Roberta Chow (MB BS(Hons), FAMAC, MAppISci, PhD, Grad Cert Pain Management) is a research member at the University of Sydney and President of the Australian Medical Laser Association. She specializes in the effects of laser light on nerves. Her research over the last twenty years has focused exclusively on the use of photobiomodulation for pain management and primary care. This includes all types of pain like nociceptive and neuropathic pain. The neural effects of lasers and in general the neuromodulatory effects of light on the sensomotoric nervous system are decisive mechanisms for the pain-relieving effects of PBM. Her study on the effects of laser therapy on neck pain was published in Lancet.

peer interview
Prof. Chukuka S. Enwemeka
The Importance of Photobiomodulation for the Medicine of the Future

Prof. Chukuka S. Enwemeka (PhD, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, San Diego State University) was founder and chairman of the North American Association for Laser Therapy (NAALT) and president of the World Association for Photobiomodulation (WALT) from 2000 to 2006. Prof. Enwemeka was formerly professor and dean of the School of Health Professionals at the Institute of Technology, NY.
Prof. Enwemeka is regarded worldwide as one of the leading authorities in the field of PBM.

peer interview
Prof. Michael R. Hamblin
Basic research on photobiomodulation, dose-response research

Prof. Michael R. Hamblin (PhD, Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Assc. Professor at Harvard Medical School) is a basic researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital and associate professor at Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on photodynamic therapy and photobiomodulation. He has 420 peer-reviewed publications, is the editor-in-chief of the journal "Photobiomodulation, Photomedicine and Laser Surgery" and associate editor of another 10 journals. It has an h-factor of 90 and has been cited more than 32 000 times.
